About Eugene
From startups to corporates, I bring energy, clarity, and execution to every challenge.
At heart, I am a family man. Whether I’m coaching my daughters’ hockey team, exploring the world of science and new technologies, or walking long distances through nature, my personal life keeps me grounded and inspired. Humor plays a big role in my approach — it helps me connect with people, put challenges into perspective, and keep energy levels high.
“Family always comes first. It gives me the energy to do everything else.”
Professionally, I am known for determination, resilience, and energy — qualities often summed up as grit. I thrive in environments where vision and execution must go hand in hand. Seeing the bigger picture quickly, translating strategy into action, and driving results are my strengths.
Over the years, I have built fast-growing companies from start-up stage to more than one hundred employees. I have also led complex reorganizations at a corporate level, guiding teams through difficult transitions with respect, transparency, and decisiveness. My international experience includes launching greenfield business development projects across multiple countries.
“Vision without execution is fiction. Execution turns ideas into impact.”
I believe that respectful collaboration and open communication are the foundation for success. Decisions should be carefully prepared and well-supported, but once they are made, they deserve steadfast execution. That balance between empathy, clarity, and action is what I bring to every organization I work with.
My Background
I studied Business Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam, building a foundation in management and entrepreneurship that I still draw from today. Before that, the Stedelijk Gymnasium in Apeldoorn sharpened my curiosity for broad learning and critical thinking. Education has always been more than a diploma to me — it’s a mindset of continuous discovery.
Science fiction, technology, and walking are my three passions outside of work. Science fiction fuels my imagination, walking clears my head and keeps me healthy, and technology is where curiosity meets action. It’s not just what I do for a living — it’s what excites me on a Saturday morning when the world is still asleep.
Born in Apeldoorn and now living in Vught, I enjoy life in the south of the Netherlands. International work has taken me to places as far as Tokyo, Dubai, and New Delhi, but I always return home to the Brabant forests and the long walks that help me put everything into perspective.

Lopende Zaken
Thinking on foot: a walking vlog about technology in practice.

Walking is where I do my best thinking. On long walks through the Brabant forests I turn that habit into a vlog called Lopende Zaken. The name is a Dutch play on words: “lopende zaken” means current affairs, and “lopen” means to walk.
In short videos recorded along the way, I talk about AI, VR, digitalisation, innovation and education. One question keeps coming back: what does all this technology actually do for us in practice? No complicated presentations and no theoretical stories.
The episodes are in Dutch.

My Patent
METHOD FOR GENERATING A 3D-HEATMAP FOR DISPLAYING A USER'S INTEREST IN A VIRTUAL THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECT

Grant Number: 2022255868
This patent describes a novel method for generating a three‑dimensional heatmap that shows which parts of a virtual object attract a user’s attention. By tracking the path and gaze of a virtual camera in a 3D environment, the system calculates how long the user’s viewpoint intersects each point on the object’s surface.
After the viewing session, it renders a color‑coded 3D heatmap directly on the object to visualise interest levels. This technique can be applied by developers, educators or product designers to understand user behaviour and optimise VR/AR experiences.
