This week I tested my smart glasses in the local supermarket.
The idea is simple but powerful:
๐ Point at a product, and the glasses recognize it instantly.
๐ Ask: โCan I buy this coffee cheaper somewhere else?โ โ get real-time price comparisons.
These everyday use cases are closer than most people think. The combination of product recognition + AI assistance will soon be part of our daily lives.
Of course, there are challenges:
โ ๏ธ Privacy concerns when using cameras in public.
โ ๏ธ Restrictions in places like cinemas, where smart glasses are banned.
To address these concerns: my glasses have a built-in LED that lights up whenever recording is active โ so people around me know when the camera is on. Small steps like this are essential to build trust.
But these are temporary hurdles. Just like smartphones once raised eyebrows in public, smart glasses will quickly find their place.
AI wonโt just support us at work or in complex tasks โ it will also guide us through the small, daily choices: what to cook, where to buy, how to save time.
The future is literally in front of our eyes. ๐
